If you’ve been following on my social media, you’ve seen my year of confidence updates. I was sharing & doing the same thing everyday because those small actions over time build great leaps of confidence.
I’m on day 47 of 365, I started October 1st and most days, it just feels like a regular journey. I don’t feel like I’m doing anything extraordinary which has made me question so many times if this is even worth it. Am I doing enough? This may sound like a crazy analogy but I often say to myself – if I’m not running the full marathon, why bother trying?
If I’m not going balls to the wall, burn-out style, is it even working?
If I’m not making millions in my business, is it even worth pursuing?
If I’m not living a romantic Disney movie marriage every day, is it even worth having?
YES its worth it.
It’s worth trying but I want you to take a second and look at your life and where you’ve decided to not show up just because you won’t be #1.
Maybe you didn’t apply for that job because you’re not qualified.
You didn’t sign up for that dating app because there’s no way love is on there.
You stopped running because you kept coming in last.
Glen, my husband and I have been on this journey to find our forever home. This was always our plan, after 5 years in this house, we would start the process of finding something new. So after our year abroad, I was eager to dive into it. We want more space, some privacy, a room big enough for a king bed and a tub that can fit Glen’s whole body.
Those aren’t big asks, we don’t need anything fancy and we’re flexible on location. And every time we put an offer on a house (so far it’s been 5) Glen says it can’t be this easy. We won’t get this house because it’s TOO EASY.
And well we haven’t gotten a house yet…but every time we try I remind him – it’s supposed to be easy. The right path will be easy. And I know that’s not always the case, but when and why did society corrupt us to believe that everything needs to be a hustle or hard to be “worth it”.
Life is hard but you’re worth it going easy sometimes. You show up every day, and it can feel like a hustle but it’s time to change that perspective. Focus on gratitude, growth and positivity because changing your mindset will help you see that the little actions are enough.
YOU ARE ENOUGH.
I truly believe that we will find our dream house. We won’t settle. It might take hearing a few more no’s but I will never believe we’re not worth it going easy.
Let’s bring that back to our confidence journey. The year of confidence isn’t about jumping out of planes and wrestling lions to prove something. Of course, I’m sure if I could tame a lion, I’d be feeling pretty dang confident but that’s not the point.
It’s about taking actions every day to become the most confident version of myself IN A YEAR. Give yourself some frikken time. Stop rushing the timeline. Your life is not Amazon Prime.
I want to look back on day 1 and say holy crap, I’ve come so far. I did it. I’m more confident. I don’t want to look back on a year and say I shoulda, woulda, coulda showed up. I’m starting now.
And if you want to start now too, here are a few things I’m doing in my year of confidence that could help you too:
