I had this moment when meeting with my business mentor that recently changed everything. We were chatting about how to grow my podcast and I mentioned that I connected with a few people when I mentioned on my show that I didn’t want kids. It was a small comment that turned into really navigating what my niche is. Who am I talking to when I pick up the mic?
For the past 6 months, every time I pick up the mic I’m talking to a specific person – the woman who is looking for more in her life. The woman who is craving more confidence, more energy, more life. I LOVE creating content for this person because she is me. Most of my episodes are direct reflections of what I need to hear at the moment.
But it’s time to add a little edge. Self(ish) Confidence Podcast is pivoting! I’m pivoting into a topic that feels more aligned to me and for this community. It’s so outside of my comfort zone and I’ve been very surface level on how to grow your confidence – it’s time to give it some edge. I’ve never really been that open, deeply open about what’s going on in my life or what I’ve been feeling other than sharing a bit about my journey and how I’ve kind of lost my confidence and how I’m coming back into it.
When I asked my listeners what confidence was, many replied it’s about being the truest version of yourself and accepting that. It’s about being open to BE YOU! I want to create a community where people feel comfortable and confident to be here, as themselves. And I think it’s really important that I open up a bit more and share about who I am, why I’m here and what makes us who we are.
What is an unconventional life?
An unconventional life is a life not bound by what is usual or the way most people do things. “Not bound” is the pivotal part of this definition. If most people sleep on beds, you can do the same. Or you may decide to try sleeping on the floor.
We all have choices in this life and the more we connect and share ours – no matter where it lands on society’s scale – the better we can connect and that’s what I’m trying to do here.
Now when I pick up the mic I’m talking to the:
I’m talking to you. The person who is navigating life. Feeling lost and a little outside the box. There are many different avenues of this unconventional life path that we just feel judged all the time. And I got that emotional feeling in my chest when I said that, because I’m tired of feeling judged all the time. I’m tired of that awkward judgment of even starting a podcast, right? Or pivoting into this world where you feel like you can help women. And everyone’s like, oh yeah, another podcaster or another person who thinks that they can help, but that’s not what this is. This is a place for you to feel like you can be yourself, come into my house, eat my cookies and be yourself. And I think that’s, what’s powerful here. Growth doesn’t come from inside your comfort zone. So I’m gonna get uncomfortable.
