I always thought confidence was something you either had or didn’t. It was something you were born with and only the lucky ones could be confident.
But that’s not true. Through this last month of working on myself, I’ve learned that you can shift your personality traits by focusing on your growth.
So what is confidence? Confidence is a belief in yourself and being comfortable to embrace your TRUE SELF.
My goal with the Year of Confidence is to be as comfortable at a party as I am cuddled up on the couch and that comes from me accepting who I truly am and being ready to show that in public.
Also, confidence is embracing who you are and knowing that not everyone will like you. We can’t be everyone’s cup of tea and the sooner we accept that the sooner we can accept who we are and show up authentically.
When I finally meet you, I want to see YOU, not the made-up version you created to “fit in”.
My best advice from this confidence journey is if you want to be more confident, just act like it (easier said than done – right?).
These things take time but our minds believe what we tell them. So if we keep telling it “I’m not a morning person” you’ll never become one.
Think about someone you know whom you consider extremely confident. When you first met them, you probably knew they were confident before they even started speaking. You could just tell by their energy and body language that they had it going on. They made eye contact, shook your hand firmly and stood up straight.
Now think about yourself, hows’s your posture? How do you greet people? By changing those small things, you can come off more confident – again fake it til you make it.
You must change your perspective and your mindset, and choose to be confident.
You need to be willing to put in the work to become that version of yourself. Confidence doesn’t come from your outward achievements – it comes from within. Being confident means that if you do fail, you can pick yourself back up and try again instead of throwing in the towel. Once you start taking actionable steps toward your goal of being confident, your beliefs will gradually start to solidify.
